Music video of a similar theme

Scouting For Girls - Love How It Hurts

The Noisettes 'That Girl' is about love and expressing how you feel, similarly, so is Scouting For Girls 'Love How It Hurts'. This video portrays a similar plot as to what I’ll feature in my music video, with someone being deeply in love and unable to be with them. However i believe this video challenges stereotypes as its more common for the female to be gazing into the males eyes. In this video the stereotypical 'geek' is in love with a girl who is in the arms of the 'bully'. I'd say that Scouting For Girls have represented a classic school scenario by the geek getting bullied by a guy who is confident and portrayed as 'cool'. Throughout the video, here are many close ups to emphasise eye contact the one he's in love with. Furthermore there are points where slow motion is used to create a sense or day dream and the impression he is infatuated with this girl.

From this research, i have learnt and seen how parasocial relationships can be portrayed in a music video through the use of many close ups to ensure eye contact. What i like about this video, is that is colourful, playful and reflects many social groups. Therefore the theme of pop music has reached its purpose of being aimed at a general audience.
